In this tutorial, you will learn how to use the displacement effect to your own benefit. You may use it to blend a certain image with a coarse surface image, producing an overall water paint/ chalk effect, etc.

1. Open an image in Photoshop. Width 600 and Height 340.

2. Go to Image > Duplicate

3. Go to File > Save As (Save the duplicate on your Desktop)

Ensure that the format is Photoshop .PSD, .PDD.

4. Open another image in Photoshop. Click and drag this onto your document.

5. Go to Filter > Distort > Displace

Make the following changes:

6. A dialog box will appear; now choose your duplicate file.

7. Select the background layer. Now, hold down the CTRL key and click on bird image thumbnail.

8. Now press CTRL + J

9. Place bird Layer 2 over bird Layer 1.

10. Change the Blend Mode of bird Layer 2 from Normal to Overlay.

That’s it, babe.

Final Picture:

Voila.
